SUMMARY:Whitman in Love
DESCRIPTION:Actor John Kevin Jones of the Summoners Ensemble — much beloved WWI camerado — offers his resonant performance of “Whitman in Love” at the Merchants House Museum (NYC) for a limited run during Pride Month 2026: 6/24 – 6/28.  Jones brings to life Whitman’s “Live Oak\, with Moss” poems\, his most intimate expressions of self\, in the exquisite garden behind a stately home Walt surely passed on his city strolls.

SUMMARY:Leaves of Grass – Illuminated
DESCRIPTION:The Guthrie is proud to present Leaves of Grass – Illuminated\, written and performed by Patrick Scully\, from the text by Walt Whitman. This unique event summons the spirit of Walt Whitman\, revealing his many sides. From the furtive – changing genders to “straighten things up” – to the fierce – defying the censors while getting banned in Boston – this is the Whitman that none of us learned about in American literature class.\n\n\nScully is a Minneapolis-based choreographer\, dancer and performance artist. In 1976\, he co-founded Contactworks\, a dance collective focused on contact improvisation. In addition to his performing work\, Scully was the founder and longtime director of Patrick’s Cabaret in Minneapolis.\n\n\n\nwritten and performed by PATRICK SCULLY\n\n\nfrom the text by WALT WHITMAN
